Quirky Used Books & More offers a wide selection of nonfiction and fiction in all genres and subject areas. Our retail store is located in a converted eyeglass factory just east of Albuquerque’s Nob Hill neighborhood; additional inventory is offered online. In addition to books, we carry artwork by local artists and a small selection of LPs, CDs, DVDs, collectibles, and gift items.

Our inventory of more than 16,000 used books is designed to be affordable, with the overwhelming majority priced at $10.00 or less. For extreme bargains, don’t forget to check out the hundreds of $1.00 and free books on our clearance tables.

Our spacious 4000-square-foot store features a quiet reading nook, public all-gender restrooms, plenty of free parking, and a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

Most of our books and other media are donated by our customers and community members. Donations can be dropped off anytime during store hours.

Books beyond the bookstore

In addition to the books in stock at our bookstore, Quirky offers more specialized, niche, scholarly, and collectible titles online. Click the buttons to browse our online inventory at Amazon (mostly books published in recent decades), Alibris and Biblio (generally older titles from the 1970s or before).

Looking for new books? Through our partnership with Bookshop.org, you can order almost any book in print, while supporting Quirky and other independent bookstores across the country. If you prefer audio books, you can order through Libro.fm.

For the love of community

We strive to be a great bookstore, but also an integral part of the community as a whole.

As part of our commitment to the Albuquerque community, we partner with local nonprofit organizations to help them raise funds through book donation drives. And there is always a change jar next to the cash register where you contribute to a local community organization selected by staff; Quirky will match your donations.

Our current fundraising partners are:

Book donations for our nonprofit partners can be dropped off at the bookstore during regular business hours. Please be sure to tell a staff member which organization you wish to donate to. We also accept donations of women’s clothing and hygiene supplies for Street Safe New Mexico.

If your organization is interested in raising funds through a one-time or ongoing book drive, please apply here.

Bringing the community together

Bringing people together is an integral part of our mission. Our accessible, welcoming, and inclusive space has hosted book clubs, clothing swaps, organizational meetings, fundraising events, workshops, arts events, music performances, & social gatherings, and we would love to discuss hosting your event or activity.

The south side of our building features a colorful mural designed by Michelle Perez Fuentes and painted by students at Working Classroom, a youth-centered arts education and cultural organizing non-profit in New Mexico. The mural, titled Jardin de Historias [Garden of Stories], features an elder reading to a group of children, surrounded by butterflies and roses in a garden setting.
